Rapid Prototyping Center

Your solution for rapid development and reduced time to market

The RPC is equipped with the latest 3-D Modeling, Stereolithography (SLA®), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS®) and Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM®) technologies to build the fastest concept-to-market products.
With a iPro™ SLA® System equipped with dual vat capabilities, a Sinterstation® Pro System a Sinterstation® HiQ™ System and a Fortus 900mc™, the RPC supports companies with product design, development, prototyping and Additive Manufacturing.

What is Rapid Prototyping?

Rapid Prototyping is an Additive Manufacturing process, starting with a 3D, CAD file that is sliced into layers then transferred to a SLA®, SLS®, or FDM® System.  With the SLA® & SLS® systems a laser cures liquid resin or sinters powdered plastics or metals into solid cross-sections, layer by layer, until the desired part is built.  With the FDM® System melted plastic is extruded through a small tip and layered to form a complete model out of production-grade thermoplastics.

Benefits of Rapid Prototyping

  • Cost savings through reduced design iteration, production and tooling costs
  • Time savings by turning an idea into a prototype within hours
  • Increased visualization during early phases of design
  • Improved product design with form, fit and functional testing
  • Offers easy detection of design flaws and allows rapid changes before tooling
  • Gives the client the advantage of being able to show a physical model
  • Materials closely resemble the final manufactured part
