The i3D Educators’ Symposium is the only opportunity of its kind in the United States – specifically devoted to assisting educators learn about i3D (interactive 3D) Simulation Based Learning (SBL) and ways to integrate these technology solutions into learning environments.  For example:

  1. SBL uses real-time, interactive, photorealistic visualizations to present subject content to any learner.
  2. The learner interacts with the visualization to accomplish a learning task by  seeing or literally going inside a real-time visualization of the subject, i.e. a car engine or something like the body's cardiovascular system.
  3. i3D may be described as a method for visualizing procedural information that is hard to describe textually, describing the different phases of a process in a way that the learner can control and/or navigate between them; such interactions greatly stimulate or engage the interest of the learner and accomplishes up to 40% greater retention of the subject content with the learner.

The unique part of this program is visiting an exciting new, one-of-a-kind facility – the 3D/Virtual Reality Interactive Digital Center – where you will observe the latest 3D interactive technologies and see how today’s learner can become immersed in the learning environment.  You will experience how this technology truly changes the way learning takes place!

This Symposium program is designed so that participants have an opportunity to hear from a global team of 3D/Virtual Reality leaders and experts and to learn how to integrate i3D technologies across the curriculum.  You will be exposed to the latest i3D hardware and software solutions and to successful strategies used to create self-sustaining environments for the learner. The i3D Educators’ Symposium is designed for faculty, administrators, curriculum designers, media and technology specialists and educators of disciplines preparing tomorrow’s workforce from doctors and nurses to engineers, auto techs and graphic designers.  Registration is required and complimentary meals are provided.  (Registration fee = $395, early bird registration = $295.)

SYMPOSIUM LOCATION:

The Symposium is in Florence, South Carolina at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology (SiMT) on the grounds of the Florence-Darlington Technical College campus located at 2175 West Lucas Street.  The SiMT is a new state-of-the-art facility where interactive 3D technology solutions have been designed to provide a showcase of new 3D technologies, enhance content development for educators and industry partners for education/training, and to provide industry with new ways for enhancing sales, marketing, maintenance, and operations.
