Nuclear Plant Uses 3D Simulation to Plan Feed-Water Tank Replacement.

During a shutdown a Nuclear Generation plant time is limited for large maintenance projects, especially when in involves replacing two large forty-foot long feed-water tanks that were located inside a confined space surrounded by other equipment. SiMT was able to overcome this challenge by creating a 3D visual simulation for the project management team. By conducting a large area laser scan the SiMT created a model that allowed manipulations to be made in the virtual world before attempting the project in the real world, simulating the work-site and the moves that needed to be made. The team was then able to interact with the program and plan out the best way to complete the job and train staff without wasting precious time and undergoing unnecessary expense.
